Wow this term is surely flying by and what a fantastic learning term it
has been.
Our inquiry topic based around ‘The Rocky Shore’ has been an insight to
coastal New Zealand and what actually lives on our own rocky shore. The trip to
Curio Bay was a fantastic growth in our knowledge and gave us such an awareness
of this habitat.
We are loving Mathletics and know that practice is a really important
part of our learning pathway. The
children all know that they can do activities from the learning in their maths
class and that these activities are set at the right year level and are NZ
based. There is also live Mathletics
that allows the children to play against people from all over the world, while
they are practising their basic facts.
We are well into
routines in our class and excited about sharing our learning on our individual
blogs. Please, if you haven’t already,
put your email address in the ‘follow by email’ part of the blog. This means that any time during the day you
will get an email that tells you your child has a new piece of work added to it.
The children are so engaged in their
learning when using the iPads to blog and would love for you to see it.
The Year 5 children are off to camp next week. We are excited about the opportunity to see
them extend their confidence and take risks during some of the activities.
Team Kereru are also really looking forward to swimming lessons during Weeks
8 and 9 of this term.
Our favourite app so
far is Shadow Puppet. The children use
pictures and words to ‘publish’ a piece of writing or read a poem or
story. Check them out on the blogs.
